New Workshop - Framing

March 19, 2005 – The framing package is delivered.  The solar board (7/16" foil-backed roof decking - in the middle of the pile with the yellow edges) is pretty banged up so the lumber yard, Pilot Point Hardware & Supply, will be bringing another bundle on Tuesday.

March 22, 2005 – The framing begins!  The truck with the replacement solar board arrived at the same time as the framing crew (7:00 am).  The framer, Jay Koerbacher, thinks he can wrap up this job in one day ... he has a crew of eight guys here, so he might just pull it off!  The following pictures show the progress every few hours.

7:30 am - Getting started ...

8:30 am - Two walls are up ...

9:00 am - All the walls are up ...

9:30 am - The roof beams are up and the sheathing begins ...

10:00 am - The rafters are going up ... (I finally noticed and moved the big wad of poly) ...

11:00 am - Lunch break ...

1:00 pm - You know, I think they actually will pull it off in one day ...

3:00 pm - Facia & soffit are done, skylights are in, and the roof is half decked...

4:15 pm - Soffit trim is done and decking is almost done ...

5:15 pm - All done! Jay and his crew did a fantastic job - he even improved on my design in a few spots! Included is a shot of the roof beam structure ("Look Ma, no ceiling!").

March 23, 2005 – Today I loaded up the leftover framing materials and returned them to Pilot Point Hardware & Supply.  The stack may not look that big, but when you are loading them solo by hand, it's like a chef's salad - it keeps growing!

While I was loading I had some supervision ... it's not often you see road runners (beep, beep!) in the suburbs!
